I was talking to a close friend tonight and we were reliving some of the weirdness of our pasts when he said something that struck me. Don't let them steal your day. It was something his father used to say to him and it was something I wanted to share with all of you. It's something I've always lived by, but never have I seen it put more succinctly.

People have no real power over others except for what we give them-- the only exception being gods who can control things. But with people.... there is no real power there. They have no influence or effect on us unless we give it to them. So for all of you out there, I say this. The next time someone tries to make you feel bad or hurt your feelings, don't let them steal your day. This day and tomorrow and the one after that is what you make of it. Make it the most and make it count.

People come and go through our lives. Those who are decent and good should be treasured, but those who are only out there to hurt and malign, they need to be pruned. This is your life and only you control it.

Now I'm off to let Simi know I'm in control. Wish me luck and I better make sure Alexion has hidden the bbq sauce.
